Raids lead to arrests

Police in the Mitchell’s Plain police cluster arrested 62 people for drug-related crimes the past week.

Police also searched 41 drug houses and confiscated 10g heroin, 44g tik, 27g mandrax and 125g dagga.

Police also searched two illegal shebeens which resulted in the confiscation of 68F alcohol and one arrest on related charges.

One person has appeared in court for the illegal possession of firearms.

One person was arrested for domestic violence, while 26 cases of crimes against women and children were reported.

Police also arrested 18 wanted suspects during five tracing operations.

Police further searched 22 second-hand goods premises and 114 spaza shops.

Police also held 21 road checkpoints and 420 people were stopped and searched.

One person was arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon while 33 traffic fines were issued.
