Really, do we need another mall?

The front page story (“Restoring a legacy”, People’s Post, 14 August) speaks of restoring the legacy of the Solomon family.

This is a noble intent but if I may be blunt, how does a mall and parking bays fit in with this vision?

The original land was a farm. Yes, a residential area will be included in the final plans but surely if the family wanted to embrace the true meaning of what the original inhabitants wanted, what about building a small park in which children can play safely, a library for pre-school children with adult supervision etc. There is such a need for safe spaces for our children and this area would have been perfect.

I hope I am wrong but it seems that the lure of the almighty dollar has seduced the Solomon family. Really, do we need another mall?
