Remember forced removals

2018-04-10 06:01

The Simon’s Town Museum and Simon’s Town Phoenix Committee are in the process of arranging a sharing and planning meeting with various Ocean View community groups. This is to discuss and arrange the 50th commemoration of the forced removals of the coloured and black communities from Simon’s Town and Noordhoek in the 1960s. The forced removals impacted hugely on the dispossessed communities who were forced to settle in Ocean View. Interested parties and various groups and leaders of Ocean View are invited to join the Simon’s Town Museum and Phoenix Committee at the Civic Centre on Saturday 14 April at 15:00 to discuss and plan this important commemorative event. For more information, call Suzette Farmer on 083 583 1437 or Mary Kindo on 076 288 2464.
