LETTER: Residents should be water wise

2017-01-24 06:01

We are running out of water!

That is the stark reality.

As a ward councillor, I continue to receive reports of residents hosing their grass verges and lawns – some as early as 03:00 in the morning to avoid prosecution.

Our dam levels are now 40% full, that means 60% empty. And no rain is forecast soon. In a month or two our dams may be 80% empty.

Please act responsibly where your domestic water consumption is concerned.

Obviously, those residents with boreholes and wellpoints register these and follow the policy applying to them as per the Level 3 water restrictions.

Direct all water complaints to the City of Cape Town’s call centre on 0860 103 089, sms 31373 or email contactus@capetown.gov.za
