Residents up in arms over housing requests

Hundreds of residents from Phumlani Village and Riemfasmaak informal settlements have taken to the streets to have their voices heard.

Community leaders say the protesters took to the streets at 02:00 to request answers to their housing requests.

Since then, at least six people have been arrested for public violence.

At this stage Strandfontein Road remains closed between Spine Road and 5th Avenue.

Law Enforcement oficials remain on the scene.
