Riverwalk open again

2016-03-22 06:00

Nearly a year after a devastating wildfire destroyed most of the Peninsula, the Silvermine West section of the Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) has successfully been rebuilt and reopened to the public.

The long awaited Riverwalk inside Silvermine West is now open to visitors.

TMNP management wishes to thank the Honorary Rangers and the Friends of Silvermine Nature Area (FoSNA) for their help with rebuilding the burned infrastructure in the area.

The damage repair in this section included the rebuilding of all the boardwalks and walkways around the Silvermine Dam, down the ever-popular River Walk as well as the viewing deck at Blackburn Ravine.

Restoration work started immediately after the fire with attention given to restoring access as well as the natural elements.

All footpaths from Silvermine West down into Tokai and vice versa are still closed due to felling operations in Tokai.
