Mitchell’s Plain police have issued a warning following a recent break-in at a Tafelsig church.Police received a complaint from the church pastor on Monday 22 October at 13:35.The pastor was at the church in Mont Blanc Street when three unknown men allegedly entered the church. According to the pastor, one of the suspects pointed a firearm at him and forced him into the back office. The thieves then made off with two laptops, three cellphones, cash and car keys. The suspects fled in a silver Toyota Avanza of which only the first three numbers on the licence plate were recorded. No shots were fired and no-one was injured. Police are investigating a case of robbery.Mitchell’s Plain police are now urging residents, pastors and business owners to be vigilant and take note of the following tips: . Keep the amount of cash on hand to a minimum . Vary the times of banking . Install access control where possible . Install a panic alarm where possible . Be alert during opening and closing times . Work in pairs where possible . Keep a visible list of all emergency numbers . Have emergency numbers on quick dialFor persons entering the premises: . Insist on verification of people who claim to work for companies . Ensure the proper identification of staff, including temporary staff . Keep the keys to the premises in a safe place.After a robbery has been committed: . Call the police immediately .
