Cape Town Roses were crowned Sasol Safa provincial league winners.

The team took the crown after they beat Virgo Ladies 3-0 in a stunning last-round fixture.

The fixture was played in NY49 on Sunday.

The hosts played with confidence and determination after they experienced a moment of pressure from Virgo.

Ode Fulutidulu scored a hat-trick with her zig-zagging fast rhythm and was the key striker in the league winners’ squad that caused mayhem for Virgo.

The Roses were delighted to be crowned this year’s champions after a window of opportunity which UWC let slip away.

“We congratulate them on their well-earned achievement and wish them well for the national playoffs in the first weekend of December,” says Simphiwe Clans, Safa provincial secretary.

“I am so happy to win while still building my team and we are delighted for the playoffs and hope to be crowned national champions,” says Roses coach Xolile Madikane.

In another fixture, Santos Ladies easily disposed of Milano Ladies United 11-1 in their last fixture played at Santos academy on Saturday.

Banyana striker for Santos Lucinda Croy was instrumental with her ball play, netting a hat-trick.

Miché Minnies (four goals), Natasha Fortuin, Chantey Norris, Shana Kallis and Astrid Boks all scored for Santos while Jessica Glouer scored the consolation goal for the visitors.

RV United narrowly beat Maties 2-1 at Lentelus sports ground on Saturday.

The students kicked off with a positive mood but failed to score from vital chances. Nikelwa Mdemka and Sive Kenke scored for RV United while Gaironesa Maclobo scored to restore the pride within the Matie camp.

Ikamva FC defaulted against UWC Ladies in their scheduled encounter on Saturday and subsequently denied themselves three points.
