Safety structures in ward 78 have received some much needed equipment to aid them in the fight against crime.

The beneficiaries were from Beacon Valley, Portlands, Westridge and Westgate neighbourhood watch structures.

On Thursday 27 May, ward 78 councillor Eddie Andrews handed out jackets, bicycles, torches, and whistles to the value of R30 000.

Bonita Wood from Merino Block encourages structures to continue the work they do to ensure a safer community.

Similarly, Riedewaan Nero, from the Westgate block comittee, urges structures to work together and learn from each as the collective would be much stronger than the individuals.

He further says their sector wants to work with the other sectors to ensure improved communication.

Andrews highlights the City’s desire to sustain its strategic intention to be a safer city and is dependent on volunteer crime fighters. He appeals to all structures to work together, set aside indifferences and focus all resources towards ensuring a safer community.
