Local safety volunteers in ward 75 have received a ward allocatiion funding boost.

Ward 75 councillor, Joan Woodman, handed over the donation at the subcouncil offices on Tuesday.

Neighbourhood watches, block and street committees, as well as some of the local ratepayers’ association executives, CPF structures and ward committee members met for the handover of hand-held radios for the active safety volunteers of ward 75.

The money was set aside by Woodman from the 2017/18 ward allocation budget for safety and security.

“This was a very exciting occasion as it will equip and mobilise our volunteers who take to the streets to keep the areas safe. These men and women risk their lives late at night and during winter. Come rain or shine, they avail themselves to patrol the streets and lanes in their areas. Sectors 3, 4 and 5 fall within ward 75 and all new CPF and subforum structures have been elected and are operational and active in serving their relevant precincts,” she says.
