Spring has only truly sprung in when False Bay is filled with the kaleidoscope of colour that is False Bay Yacht Club’s (FBYC) Intasure Spring Regatta.

The FBYC races into spring with thrills, spills and plenty of competitive fun at the spring regatta , set to take place on Saturday 21, Sunday 22 and Tuesday 24 September.

The regatta is a true festival of sailing, with over 50 yachts representing all the keelboat yacht clubs in the Western Cape.

Shore-based activities, including bands, food stalls and activities for kiddies, ensure the festive atmosphere is enjoyed on land and at sea.

Despite the fun aspect of the regatta and the spirit in which it is sailed, the action on the water is always highly competitive. This year, the stakes are even higher as the event will also host the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) Western Province Championship as well as the Miura Class Nationals.

The participation of sponsors, Intasure, Buco, Cape Medical Response, Groote Post Wines, M-Rad, Marine Scene and Sail+Leisure magazine help ensure a high-quality event with fun for the whole family and action aplenty on the water.

The event will once again comply with the Sailors for the Sea’s Clean Regattas programme, to keep the ocean clean.

This initiative has been embraced by FBYC and aims to completely abolish the use of single-use plastics and to encourage recycling in line with the Blue Flag status of the False Bay Yacht Club marina.
