Santos FC Ladies recorded their biggest victory for the season after they annihilated Defence FC Ladies 10-1 in a Safa Sasol Cape Town regional women’s league first round fixture at Santos Academy in Crawford on Saturday.

A double hattrick by Lucinda Croy and, an added goal, as well as goals by Lesley Cox, Natasha Fortuin and Keshia Herman brought home the win. Elzonina Jordaan scored the consolation goal for a crippling defense attack.

Virgo United snuck past Southern Stars 3-2 in a Safa Sasol regional women’s league encounter played at Mitchell’s Plain on Saturday. Jo-Anne van der Poel’s hattrick secured the winning decider for her team.

With a 1-0 first half lead she secured maximum points for her team after she displayed a superb performances on ball and speed.

Baba Mhlakaza and Meuquliwe Kumani scored for the visitors.

Spurs Women’s Football Club was forced into a 1-1 draw against Vasco da Gama at William Herbert Sports Ground.

The hosts had an early lead, but failed to maintain it.

The hosts struggled to regain their momentum and Sinidiswa Dyashu, Lillipho Makeleni and Pozisa Dipa scored for the impressive visitors.

Heideveld Female Football Academy thrashed Ambassadors Ladies 5-0 in an encounter played at Heideveld on Saturday.

The hosts rebuffed the diplomats with tactical skills and brilliant ball manoeuvres. Fazlyn Adams – the lanky hardworking Heideveld striker – was in top form again as she went on to score a magnificent hattrick in the first half. Adams and her strike partner, Kim Mentoor, with a brace of goals herself, were a powerful winning combination for the hosts that thumped the lacklustre diplomatic core. German midfielder Ronja Hoepfner supported the duo with her classic through-passes that enabled the Heideveld team to occupy third spot on the log.

Exceptional Ladies drew 1-1 against CPUT in an exciting encounter played in Mitchell’s Plain. The home side was in an attacking spirit from the onset, but their strikers squandered several valuable opportunities. After a goalless first half, the hosts took the lead when Sibahle Linde netted for them.

On paper the host were favourites to win this encounter, but brilliant composure from CPUT’s striker Athi Klaas salvaged a point for her team minutes before the final whistle.

Tafelzucht Ladies FC narrowly beat Bright Stars Ladies 1-0 in a tough fixture in Mitchell’s Plain. The hosts were playing with attacking determination that caught the visitors off-guard. Nabeelah Gallant sealed the victory for her team after she scored.

Winnies Ladies caused a major upset when they overturned Ocean View 2-1 in Ocean View.

Ocean View, with a first half lead thanks to Lameez Scheepers, failed to make use of their home-ground advantage and allowed the visitors to walk away with three valuable points.

Goal Hunters Ladies thumped Atlantis Leeds Ladies 4-0 at Khayelitsha Stadium on Sunday.

The hosts were in full command of the game and it made matters worse for the visiting team.

UCT beat Lavender Hill FC 3-1 in Grassy Park on Sunday.

Skipper Nina Woermann opened the score for the log-leading students early in the game. She further strengthened her team’s lead with a volley goal minutes before the break.

Midfielder Ginny Sommers secured the victory after she created havoc with the support of Taylor Geas. Christal August scored the consolation goal for Lavender Hill.

Milano Ladies failed to arrive for their encounter against Phoenix Spurs Ladies at Grassy Park on Saturday and subsequently forfeited.
