Local vendors have the opportunity to sell their goods at a women’s empowerment and wellness market next month. The event will take place in the Lotus River multipurpose hall on Saturday 2 September and is open to the public.“Our aim with this event is to provide continuous community upliftment and to create a platform for local vendors to showcase and sell their wares,” says event coordinator Najiema Benjiman. “We will have three local designers from the area showcasing their clothing line to the public and, to ensure that our youth are involved, we will also host a modelling competition titled Miss Spring Queen.”Benjiman says various items will be on sale including a food stall hosted by the area’s neighbourhood watch. “The profits from this specific stall will go to the purchase of security equipment needed by our neighbourhood watch members,” she says. “Various organisations are set to join us on the day including Mosaic, Famsa and Sanca. Nurjahan Khan Dalvie will also be present to speak on domestic violence, protection orders and maintenance issues.”Benjiman urges residents to attend the event to support local vendors trying to make a living. Gates open at 10:00. Entry costs R5 per person. V For more information contact Najiema Benjiman on 083 800 5195.
