The Roggebaai Post Office will close its doors permanently on Friday.

The closing of Roggebaai Post Office is part of the SA Post Office’s rebalancing project, says Rian de Jager, head of retail in the Western Cape.

The post boxes will remain at the current site and registered letters, insured and ordinary parcels can be collected at the box lobby.

However, Roggebaai customers will have to collect foreign parcels and COD’s from the Cape Town Post Office.

Employees affected by the closure will be relocated to other branches, De Jager says.

Operational for over 15 years, staff will be sad to leave their customers, De Jager says, with various unusual packages sent over the years.

“The staff say the most unusual parcel they ever sent from this office was a tandem bicycle. They are going to miss the friendly customers and friends they made. The staff are going to miss each other and they are very sad to see it close.”

V Alternatives include the Cape Town, Vlaeberg and Waterfront post offices.
