The Sherwood Park Ratepayers’ Association hosted a community breakfast for 100 seniors from the area and surrounds on Thursday.

The event took place from 10:00 to 12:30 at the Sherwood Park Community Hall.

The majority of the residents who attended were from Sherman’s Senior Citizens Club who meet at the centre every Thursday.

Lamees Allie of the association says they would like to continue hosting events for the community.

“We had a few empty tables and we fetched some residents from Manenberg to come enjoy the event with us.

“We had lots of food and wanted to share and have it eaten. Sometimes we forget about our mothers when we are so busy with our own lifestyles. We just wanted to do something for them,” says Allie.

There were spiritual talks and music at the event. They are also in the process of planning another event.

The association’s executive is newly elected. Allie says they needed a voice for the community.
