Celebrating the day of love could aid in spreading joy to a number of residents in need.
Retreat-based organisation and community group The Shelter of Hope will host a Valentine’s Day fundraiser with a coffee morning on Thursday 14 February at their premises, situated at 109 Beethoven Street, Retreat.
“We are a registered organisation and we started the initiative in 2012.
“Our organisations offers help and care to the underprivileged through outreach projects and soup kitchens.
We also have children’s programmes and work on awareness for truancy,” says founder Theresa Jones.
“Our feedings are on Thursdays, and on Mondays. We have support groups for abused women, events for seniors and at times we offer advice and referrals.”
The organisation operates in Retreat and the surrounding neighbourhoods.
The event will start at 10:30.
Tickets cost R30 per person.
“Come celebrate the spirit of love with us. All funds raised will go toward our soup kitchen and children’s programme,” says Jones.
