Soccer legends to be remembered

2016-02-16 06:00

The soccer legends of the Kensington and Maitland clubs of the old Western Province football association are hosting a sportsman reunion service in the Good Shepherd Church in Seventh Avenue on Sunday 20 March at 15:00.

Stalwarts of yesteryear like Danny Page, Danny Abrahams, Dougie van Harte, Ikey Gamba, Basil Fester, Alex Fortune, Waydie Scott and Teno Barreiro will be remembered when all those present join in to sing “We will never walk alone”.

The service will be led by Reverend Charles Blows. Saxon Rovers will be present with special guest speaker Tubby Martin (of St Athenians/ Norway Parks) and a song item will be delivered by Vincent Belguins (of St Athenians/ Cape Ramblers).

Come celebrate, giving thanks for those glory days that made “die state” the mecca of soccer talent.
