Staff of the local offices of the departments of home affairs and social services gave visitors a cup of warm soup to break the chill on Mandela Day.

The staffers dished out a 20F pot of soup at the offices.

The soup initiative was done by the Sassa staff who chose to serve residents visiting the Home Affairs offices.

Supervisers Antonio Muller and Mpho Jacobs assisted with the soup handout and also visited a local shelter to hand over donations.

The home affairs staffers collected money among themselves to buy groceries to donate to Heaven’s Shelter House in Woodlands on Tuesday morning.

They donated a 10kg bag of sugar, coffee and milk.
