Strandfontein police station has been named one of the best; they were runner-up in the Police Station of the Year category at the recent provincial police awards.

The ceremony, for the 2018/2019 financial year, was hosted at the Century City convention centre on Saturday 23 November.

Station commander, Cpt David Malong says he was humbled and overwhelmed by the award.

“By just having been nominated was already a reward and acknowledgement in itself,” says Malong.

The criteria for the award is based on:

. Frontline service delivery

. Corporate image

. Neatness and appearance

. Clients satisfaction (survey) and

. Partnership and effectiveness of the community policing forum.

Malong dedicated the award to his staff who go beyond the call of duty to serve the community, and to the residents who are part of safety structures and work towards keeping Strandfontein safe.

“Since the festive season is upon us, my wish is that the community must be extra vigilant of what’s happening around them and report any suspicious activities,” says Malong. “Comply with safety rules of the road, beach and personal safety. To the safety structures thank you for your continuous support and enjoy your holiday season.”
