Local non-profit organisation Muslim Hands equipped hundreds of impoverished learners with school stationery and school uniforms on Sunday morning.

The hand out took place from the organisations offices in Carnie Road, Rylands, enabling young learners from various communities to educate themselves as a way out of the poverty cycle.

“The organisation has been supporting access to education for over 20 years. In South Africa, many students are not able to afford basic school supplies, which can hinder their learning and progress. Every year, we provides stationery to deserving learners from low-income neighbourhoods. The stationery is sourced from local suppliers, packed by volunteers, then distributed,” says sheigh Haashim Peck, programmes officer Muslim Hands.

“Our focus this year was individuals from the Cape Flats. On Sunday, we distributed 500 stationery packs at our office in Rylands. Seeing the joy and smiles on the faces of the children, means that we have managed to make a difference. We sincerely thank all our supporters and volunteers for their dedication, may you be rewarded abundantly, and remember that one prayer of gratitude from a person you have helped, may just be your entry to Jannah/ Heaven.”
