Swift response leads to arrest

A suspect was arrested in Tamboerskloof early on the morning of Monday 22 April, after an alleged house robbery in the suburb.

“From what we can gather, the suspect along with two accomplices had tried to rob a house in Queens Road, after 04:00 on Easter Monday. One of the suspects reportedly sustained an injury during the process,” explains Jade Hanning, Cape Town South district manager at a local security firm.

Cornelius van Nooi, an armed response officer with the firm, was on patrol in the area at the time and responded to a radio request for assistance from one of his colleagues who were already at the house in Queens Road.

“Cornelius was given a description of the suspects who had fled the scene and proceeded to look for them. He quickly located one of the suspects from where he was hiding in a bush nearby, and called for police and medical backup as the suspect required medical assistance,” says Hanning.

The suspect was taken into custody by police and taken for medical treatment, under police guard.“Well done to our two officers who worked together in ensuring this suspect was apprehended,” says Hanning.
