The Pinelands Players will be taking audiences on a high energy swing through the music, style and vibe of London in the 1960s when they present Shout! The Mod Musical at the Roxy Revue Bar from Friday.

Originally created for Off Broadway by Phillip George and David Lowenstein, Shout! merges nostalgia with humour as five women sing and dance their way through the hits of an extraordinary era.

Shout! is a celebration of womanhood as each girl experiences her own rite of passage to discover her true self through a decade of emotional highs and lows.

The musical journey weaves the changing attitudes of the time with well-loved and nostalgic hits by such greats as Shirley Bassey, Petula Clark, Cilla Black and Dusty Springfield.

The all-female cast includes Laura Bosman, Melissa Sanderson, Christine Thonissen, Enyha Swanepoel and Megan Spencer. Garth Tavares provides direction, musical direction and choreography. He previously directed Shout! in 2012, which was sold out and won five CATA awards, including Best Musical and Best Director of a Musical.V Shout! The Mod Musical will be at GrandWest’s Roxy Revue Bar Thursdays to Saturdays from Friday 4 until Saturday 26 November with matinee performances Saturdays at 14:00 and Sundays at 17:00. Tickets cost R120 from Computicket. The show carries an age restriction of 13.
