A local organisation kept its doors open to local children during the first week of school holidays to give them an alternative to being idle.

The programme was held at a Tafelsig hall from Monday 25 to Friday 29 June and is an annual initiative by Roadha Tul Atfaal who also hosts weekend activities.

The organisation also partnered with Patriot Cue Sport Youth Academy, which assisted in teaching the 97 children who attended cue sport development, especially those interested in the sport.

Patriot Cue Sport Youth Academy chairperson Galiek Saville, secretary Shaheen Williams and treasurer Fagmie Solomons – who is also the chairperson of Roadha Tul Atfaal – do much work with coaching clinics for the youth across the Western Cape.

Their belief and the reason for the introduction of the partnership is that there is a lot of opportunity for youth in cue sport.

A total of 97 youths were selected from Freedom Park and Tafelsig.

“Roadha Tul Atfaal would like to thank all the facilitators that assisted in making the project a success.

“These include Galiek Saville, Samia Stoffels, Latiefa Smith, Soemaya de Villiers, Mishqa Allie, Soeraya Dollie, Mustapha and our treasurer Rafeedah Isaacs and secretary Shaheedah Latiff.

“Roadha Tul Atfaal is a registered non-profit organisation and focuses on welfare and humanitarian relief, health care, education and development, conservation, land and housing and youth development throughout the year.”
