Enjoy an evening of tapas dinner servings and support a good cause at the Warehouse Beau Constantia on Tuesday 20 June.

Titled #Chefs4Soil, the event aims to raise funds for a local charity, Soil for Life, to help grow home food gardens in low-income areas.

The benefiting organisation helps underprivileged people in townships create and sustain vegetable gardens. Its founder, Pat Featherstone, says they are grateful for the relationship they have with the restaurant, as their fundraising events help to cover some of their operating costs. She says this year’s contribution will come in handy as they plan to grow the number of their beneficiaries to over 800 people.

The restaurant formed a relationship with the organisation last year after working together in creating an organic kitchen garden for the owner of the restaurant, Ivory Jones.

They are now embarking on their second annual journey together.

Jones says he is pleased to be able to proceed with their relationship and help make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged while promoting healthy eating.

He says that as a businessman he understands that he should not be driven by the profit he generates out of the community, but by the ability to give back.

He says Soil for Life reaches the people on the ground and shows them they can improve their lives by utilising what they already have.

Jones will be working with his creative team to make a delicious dinner and create an amazing atmosphere for about 80 people.

Tickets are R1200 per couple, which includes food, dessert and wine.

“It’s going to be a fun, relaxed evening in aid of a really good cause with great food and wine,” says Jones.

The public is urged to help Soil for Life reach their target of raising over R40 000 this year.
