Teams work on pride

To make Fish Hoek a better place for everyone.

This is the mission of a movement to rebrand Fish Hoek, now named the Fish Hoek Improvement Project. It was decided by over 40 Fish Hoek residents and business owners at a workshop last week.

The community-driven project will aim to develop community pride through community engagement in the form of events, projects and innovations, improve the aesthetic of the town centre and help develop business activities for the benefit of the community as well as tourism and build better community and public spaces in parks and the beach.

The project will also look to maintain and improve Fish Hoek’s safety, develop plans to integrate the community and improve access and mobility.

Led by business consultancy Tankwa Sky, a recent residents survey listed the environment, community and retirement facility as the top reasons residents choose to live in the suburb (“Main Rd needs a makeover, say locals”, People’s Post, 27 October).

Five teams have now been established to drive projects based on the results of this survey.

“The task teams have been asked to meet separately before Wednesday 25 November, and coordinators will report to us with regard to their one, five and 10 year vision for their area of focus, a project priority list, as well as a ‘quick win’ list on Monday 30 November,” explains Tankwa Sky’s Lee-Anne McQueen.

“The door remains open to any resident, business owner, professional or organisation who would still like to get involved in one of the task teams. Anyone who may have missed the workshop or who wasn’t aware of this project but who feels that they can add value will be warmly welcomed into the task team of their choice.”V Visit or the We love Fish Hoek page on Facebook for more information.
