Teen dies in gang shooting

A 26-year-old man has been arrested after a gang-related shooting in which a teenager died in Rocklands on Friday last week.

Mitchell’s Plain police heard about a shooting on the corner of Caravelle and Diamond streets at about 20:20. On arrival they found the body of a 17-year-old boy.

He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene.

A second man had been shot in his left ankle and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

A third man had been shot twice in his right arm, once on his left finger and once on the right side of his chest, and was also admitted to hospital.

The deceased and the two victims were in a tuck shop when two men approached them and fired at them.

After the attack the two shooters jumped in a car and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Further investigation led to the arrest of a 26-year-old man on a charge of murder and two charges of attempted murder.
