Temporary road closures in Rylands

2016-04-26 06:00

The City of Cape Town has advised residents of temporary road closures to take place in Rylands until Tuesday 31 May.

The road closures are necessary as part of the Cape Flats 3 sewer project (CF3).

Pooke Road between Carrick and Ester Roads will be closed temporarily. “Signage will be displayed warning motorists of the construction activities and redirecting them to alternative routes. It is imperative that our sewerage infrastructure is maintained and upgraded to ensure service delivery,” reads a City statement.

People’s Post has reported extensively about the CF3 project, which serves 350 000 residents in Bonteheuwel, Heideveld, Manenberg, Gugulethu and Nyanga.

The construction of the second phase of the CF3, and the extra capacity this will provide, will allow the City to periodically decommission other sewer infrastructurefor maintenance and rehabilitation.
