The Factreton Community Development Organisation (Facdo) is keeping its promise of caring in the community.

On Thursday they were back at WD Hendricks Primary School in Facreton where they treated the learners to soup and bread.

Ricardo van Niekerk explained that this was part of their mission to care for the children at the school.

“ ‘You can’t teach a hungry child’ is one of our many ongoing outreach programmes and we would like to continue doing so, but need donors, sponsors to help sustain our programme,” he said.

“With this we would like to ask anyone who could help us help others by having this soup kitchen on a weekly basis.”

Ricardo added that they were motivated to build a community of peace and safety in the area.

“We want to start a peace garden in Acre Road where residents and Facdo will build a garden of hope that will include a sustainable food garden and play park for our children.

“But we cannot do it alone. Sponsors and donors are needed to help us make these dreams a reality,” he said.
