Three arrests for gun-related cases

Two men, aged 33 and 18, were arrested on Saturday 12 October at 18:30 by the Mitchell’s Plain crime prevention unit.

The officers followed up on information about a firearm being kept at a premises in Kweker Road, Westridge.

During the search, officers climbed into the ceiling and found a 9mm pistol with a magazine and eight live rounds of ammunition.

Police arrested the two suspects who have since appeared in court on related charges.

In an unrelated incident, on the same day, another 18-year-old man was arrested after he was found in possession of an imitation firearm in Charley Street, Beacon Valley.

Mitchell’s Plain police officers were busy with patrols when they received information about two men robbing people. On arrival, police spotted two suspicious men.

Police managed to apprehend one suspect. While searching the suspect, police found a black gas gun in his possession.
