Three suspects are expected to appear before the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on drug related charges tomorrow (Tuesday 6 August). This follows arrests made by officers attached to the Woodstock crime prevention unit in two unrelated incidents. In one incident, two suspects were arrested at a house in Wright Street following a tip-off. Woodstock police spokesperson, Sergeant Hilton Malila says a man (70) and woman (64) were arrested following the discovery of 100 mandrax tablets with the estimated street value of R5000. “On arrival at the house, the two [suspects] were found trying to dispose of the evidence, but swift reaction from the officers led to the confiscation of the tablets. Both occupants were arrested for dealing and possession of drugs,” Malila says. In the other incident, police arrested a 43-year-old man in Burns Road, Salt River. Malila says the suspect was found with five packets of tik.
