Three teenagers arrested for murder

2016-05-31 06:00

Philippi police have successfully apprehended suspects linked to a murder that occurred earlier this month.

Philippi police spokesperson Lieutenant Lance Goliath says: “Police worked around the clock bringing the perpetrators to book for the murder of a 20-year-old man on Saturday14 May in Summit Road, Hanover Park. The deceased was in an argument and fight with three teenage boys.”

He adds the deceased was admitted to hospital shortly after the argument, where he died as a result of multiple stab wounds.

“Police investigation lead to the linking of the suspects to the crime scene,” Goliath says.

The investigation official turned to the parents of the three teenage boys requesting them to hand over their sons to police in order for the law to take its course, Goliath explains.

“The parents are law abiding citizens who did not hesitate in doing so. On Monday 23 May, the parents of the three teenage boys – aged betwee 14 and 16 – handed them over to the investigating official at Philippi Police Station where they were arrested,” Goliath says.

The three teenage boys appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court last week on a charge of murder.
