Three to collectively serve 28 years for crimes

Mitchell’s Plain police secured the successful prosecution of a 46-year-old man in connection with a 2014 murder case.

The accused has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment of which four years have been wholly suspended for five years on condition that the accused is not convicted of murder committed during the period of suspension.

In an unrelated matter, a 25-year-old man was sentenced in two cases of attempted murder for a 2014 incident. The man was sentenced to seven years for the first count and another seven years running concurrently for the second.

Police also secured the successful prosecution of a 39-year-old Tafelsig man for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

He was arrested in 2015 and sentenced to six years imprisonment, with two years wholly suspended for five years on condition he is not convicted of the same crime during that period. He will also concurrently serve a one-year sentence for the second count.
