Officers attached to Mitchell’s Plain Flash (firearm, liquor and second goods) unit arrested a 20-year-old man on Friday last week.

The man was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Renoster Street, Eastridge.

At 10:30 the officers were doing a joint liquor operation in conjunction with Law enforcement when they responded to a tip-off in Clipsringer Street.

Officers patrolled the area and spotted the suspect in Renoster Street and a high speed chase ensued.

The officers saw him throw a pistol into a yard during the chase.

The suspect was arrested and the Taurus 9mm with eight rounds of ammunition was confiscated.

An alleged gangster, he has since appeared in court on charges relating to possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
