A man has been arrested on charges of child neglect after two children died in a fire in Colorado Park on Tuesday last week.

At around 03:20, Lentegeur police responded to a complaint of a fire, where it was reported that a wendyhouse was ablaze in Flamingo Crescent.

It was later discovered that two children, aged three years and six months, had died in the fire.

It is alleged that the children were left alone at home. No one else was reported to have been injured in the fire.

Police have opened a case of child neglect. The cause of the fire is unknown.

V Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the investigating officer, Detective Constable Francois Jordaan, on 076 250 5246.
