To encourage youth to have strength and resilience in life, MOT South Africa, an Athlone-based non-profit organisation (NPO) recently hosted an educational, youth camp in Wemmershoek in Franschoek. This was announced in a statement by the NGO on Tuesday 17 September.

The NPO was established 22-years-ago in Norway and arrived in South Africa 10-years-ago. Part of what they do is facilitate life-skills programmes for young people and empower them to make conscious decisions. The camp was titled Young MOTivator’s Education (Youth Life Skills and Leadership Training Camp).

It was sponsored by MySchool MyPlanet MyVillage and served as a dedication to former president Nelson Mandela.

According to the statement, the camp saw 67 youth trained.

The camp took place over three days and dealt with students from technical and vocational education and training (TVET) colleges. Camp-goers were from colleges such as College of Cape Town, Boland College and False Bay College.

The camp was conducted plays, interactive activities and group discussions.

The aim was to develop the students into leaders who can lead in the future.
