Traffic is due

Not only are the taxi drivers to blame for the chaos on the roads in Pinelands, but the office workers from Pinelands Business Park and people from Ndabeni Industrial who use the Forest Drive service road between Welwyn and Duncan Roads are also to blame.

They use this path to miss the congestion and the traffic lights at Old Mutual and at peak times it is a race track.

I have seen taxis overtaking on this narrow service road. Pinelands North Primary School is close by as well as other nursery schools, and the children have to cross the service road.

What is needed is effective speed bumps on the sections of the service road. The speed bump at Dagbreek and Victory Avenue is ineffective and cars simply fly over it. Let’s not wait for something tragic to happen before attention is given to the problem.
