Transport officials meet

2018-06-12 06:01

Officials will work to address concerns from taxi associations linked to the N2 Joint Venture.

This was resolved in a meeting between the City of Cape Town’s Transport and Urban Development Authority and Codeta, with the participation of the National Department of Transport, on Tuesday 5 June.

In the meeting it was agreed that the City and Khayelitsha-based Codeta will work together over the next 14 working days to address their concerns.

Codeta, Golden Arrow Bus Service and Route 6 Taxi Association from Mitchell’s Plain are shareholders in the N2 Express Joint Venture (JV) vehicle operating company.

The N2 Express JV has been operating the four MyCiTi N2 Express routes – the D01, D02, D03, and D04 – between the Metro South-east and the Cape Town City Centre since July 2014.

“The JV and its shareholders are valuable partners in the City’s endeavour to provide a safe, convenient and affordable public transport service to the residents of the Cape Flats. The City remains committed to working with our partners from the minibus taxi industry. Going forward, I am confident that the outcome of last night’s meeting is a sound foundation for strengthening our working relationship with Codeta, while engaging also with other two shareholders of the JV,” says Mayco member for transport and urban development, Brett Herron.

In the meantime, the City advises commuters from Mitchell’s Plain and Khayelitsha that the N2 Express service is operating according to schedule.
