Police have arrested two suspects of a business robbery in Amandel Way, Westridge.

Shortly after the robbery on Tuesday evening last week police officers on patrol spotted the light delivery vehicle, which had been used as the getaway car, and arrested two suspects.

It is alleged that the suspects had entered a tuck shop in the street and pointed a firearm at the victim.

The suspects then stole a money bag with an undisclosed amount of cash, emptied the till of cash and took boxes of cigarettes valued at R8500.

Some of the stolen property was recovered, as well as a zip gun.

A charge of business robbery as well as possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition is being investigated by detectives.

. In an unrelated matter, a 38-year-old man was arrested with an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Wednesday last week at about 17:30.

Mitchell’s Plain police were doing stop and searches in Gully Crescent, Tafelsig when members noticed a person who was acting in a suspicious manner.

When the officers searched him they found a .38 special Taurus firearm with magazine and five rounds. The firearm has been identified as having been stolen in Philippi in 1991.
