Two speed away from cops

Police arrested two men yesterday at 03:00 when vigilant officers spotted a suspicious-looking white Honda Ballade on Swartklip Road, Mandalay.

The officers ran the registration number, which was registered to another car. They signalled for the driver to pull over but the driver sped off toward Baden Powell Drive. The two men in the car then shot at police and the officers returned fire.

The driver lost control of the car. Police arrested the two men and confiscated a firearm and 10 bullets.

In an unrelated matter, officers saw a white Volkswagen driving recklessly on Sunday at 03:00 while they were patrolling in Auber Avenue, Mandalay. After a short pursuit they managed to stop the man. They found a Norinco 9mm firearm with eight bullets. The firearm had been stolen in Harare.

Lentegeur police arrested a 25-year-old man for drug possession in New Woodlands on Thursday at 15:00. The officers followed up on information that drugs were being sold from a Moses Kottler Street home. They found 31 stoppe of dagga in the yard.
