LETTER: Payment a very long call away

2016-03-01 06:00

[The letter writer has been trying to draw his UIF benefits.]

Last Tuesday I tried calling the labour department. Someone eventually took the call, after it rang for more than ten minutes. She answered and politely transferred the call to another department. Another ten minutes later nobody bothered to take the call and then cut me off.

Immediately I called back. Nobody, but nobody, took the call.

Maybe we can get the Athlone group to show the Town Centre group how it is done. I have been there more than three times and still no help from them. They keep saying the paperwork is not in order.

I have another date for tomorrow – can’t wait to hear what’s going to happen tomorrow.

[He returned last Wednesday.]

I’m fed up and they don’t realise that we need to borrow money to come back all the time.

I had an appointment to go sign again for unemployment.

I spent the entire day there only for them to tell me that my documents have not been captured on the system yet.

I eventually left at 13:00. I was there from 07:00 in the morning.

I’m not happy with the service here and would like to know where I can send my complaints to.

N Meyer, Mitchell’s Plain
