The Friends of Iziko South African Museum will host a talk by Dr Marise Heyns on forensic science in South Africa.

This lecture will discuss the current state of forensic science in the country and give an overview of forensic work at government institutions, the police’s Forensic Pathology Services as well as at other institutions. The recent formation of the South African Academy of Forensic Science will also be discussed, as will the field of forensics more generally.

Heyns will also talk about how forensic science is used to help solve murders cases such as those involving Henry van Breda and Jason Rhode.

The talk will take place on Wednesday 29 August at 18:00 at the Iziko South African Museum, 25 Queen Victoria Street.

Entry is R30 for non-members.
