A local supporters club have partnered with police to host a breakfast for victims of abuse.

On Saturday 17 September, the Mitchell’s Plain police and the Liverpool Supporters Club Cape Town North hosted a breakfast for 30 women.

The women have all at some stage made use of the victim support services at the station.

This initiative cooincides with Victim Rights Week which runs from 15 September to 22 September. Sergeant Miriam Booysen and Sergeant Patrick Mavume are the Domestic Violence and Victim Support coordinators at the Mitchell’s Plain police station.

Carmen Ruiters is the coordinator of the supporters club and says the club wanted to empower the women and give them a morning filled with motivation and laughter.
