Village vanity

2018-10-23 06:00

I have been living in Fish Hoek for many years and it is sad to admit that the “village” is looking run down. The grass verges in Second Avenue and Recreation Road have not been cut in months and weeds growing on both parking areas against the walls really look bad. We, as ratepayers, are surely entitled to some service for our hard-earned buck. I know the City of Cape Town has to cater for areas where no-one pays rates, but it surely is not expensive to simply cut the grass twice a month. In First Avenue, outside of Neuport, the electrical contractor who dug up the side walk has simply left gravel where there once was tar! This work was done at least eight weeks ago. I don’t expect the City to keep my pavement clean and weed free, but at least the more visible areas should be a priority. Please lets all try harder to keep (our beloved town) clean and tidy.

Doug Morgan, Fish Hoek
