As Child Protection Month drew to a close, residents of ward 60 entered Child Protection Week with an awareness march through the local community last week.

The event was hosted by Lansdowne Ecumenical Ministers Fraternal and attended by several community leaders, including Councillor Mark Kleinschmidt.

A culmination of various activities such as the wearing of green symbolic lapel ribbons and the adornment of trees with green ribbons formed part of the event.

Public talks on topics including child abuse, child support, bullying and children’s rights were also presented by the faith-based organisations, NGOs and social services departments serving ward 60 on the day.
