Woodstock police are looking for the hiding place of a wanted suspect from Rosendal in Delft.

The wanted man, Sulaiman Alexander (32), also known as Laiman, is reportedly dangerous and involved in different crimes. He operates from different areas of Cape Town, police say. He was arrested in May last year and is out on bail. He failed to appear in court in July last year. A warrant for his arrest was then issued the next month.

Police have been searching for him since then.

According to police he was recently involved in a car theft, which has been linked to him through his fingerprints.

He was convicted of drug possession in 2003 and theft in 2015.

The investigating officer, Constable Gcinikhaya Platjie says, says he apparently works with a group of women who pose as vulnerable people needing a lift.

“Once the driver stops, he jumps in and hijacks the car at gunpoint. In May he was found with a stolen car and recently we have linked him to another incident in Milnerton.

“We are now concerned he is going to attack and terrorise people and we want him to be prosecuted,” says Platjie.

Sergeant Hilton Malila, spokesperson of the Woodstock police, adds that “police are requesting the public to help in tracing the 32-year-old man, who was arrested in Bromwell Street, Woodstock. It was later revealed that the car had been reported stolen in the Delft area. It is also believed that the suspect is hiding in the Delft or Rosendal area.”

Malila describes him as “about 1.65m in height, brown in complexion and with strong to average build”.

V Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Sulaiman Alexander should call the police on 072 689 1662 or 08600 10111.
