Water disruptions scheduled in the South Peninsula

2019-05-28 06:00

The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department has reported that they will be conducting emergency repair work on the roof at the reservoir that supplies water to a large portion of the South Peninsula area.

The City has issued a notice to alert residents of the South Peninsula, specifically the areas of Noordhoek, Sun Valley, Capri, Masiphumelele, Ocean View, Kommetjie and Scarborough towards Cape Point of the repair work to be carried out at the Brakkloof Reservoir until Friday 21 June.

The repairs started last Thursday.

These areas may experience low water pressure or intermittent disruptions to the water supply.

The affected areas will, during this period, be supplied with water from the Ocean View Reservoir, which is situated at a slightly lower elevation and has less capacity than the Brakkloof Reservoir.

As a result of this changeover, residents that are situated on the higher lying elevations, within these suburbs, may experience lower water pressure and intermittent supply of water from time to time. Residents are advised by the City to store water in clean, sealed containers for use during this period. The City has apologised for any inconvenience that may be caused while the repair work is underway.
