It’s that time of the year when Fish Hoek residents make a splash.The annual Spring Splash will take place on Sunday 3 September at Fish Hoek beach where the first swim of the new spring season will take place. People’s Post is the media partner of the Spring Splash.The family day will see a range of activities under the theme “Going back to the 1920s”. A treasure hunt and a sandcastle building competition for children have been arranged by local businesses. There will also be prizes for the best dressed on the day.The family day will start at 11:00, with the big swim taking place at 15:00.To warm up for the Spring Splash, the annual fundraising Spring Bash will take place at the Galley Restaurant on Saturday 2 September at 18:30.The gala dinner, also with a 1920s theme, will mark the start of the Fish Hoek centenary celebrations. Hosted by the Galley, owners Herbie and Mathea Eichel have committed all the funds raised from the evening to the Fish Hoek centenary fund.The centenary calendar, which features photos by local contributors, will be launched at the gala dinner and will go on sale for R100 each. There will also be an auction of oil paintings and the centenary will get 40% commission for each painting sold. Tickets to the Spring Bash are available for R200 each at the Galley and AP Jones. The ticket includes a three-course meal and live entertainment.
