Young wind bands from around Cape Town will be on stage when the WindWorx Symphonic Wind Ensemble hosts its sixth Fanfare at Wynberg Boys’ High School on Saturday.

Participating bands include the Cape Philharmonic Youth and Junior Wind Ensemble, Bellville High School’s Symphonic Wind Band and Junior Wind Band, the Durbanville High School Wind Band, DF Malan High School’s Wind Band the Wynberg Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools Wind Band, the Sans Souci Girls’ High School Symphonic Wind Orchestra, the SACS Concert Band and Drostdy High School’s Brass Band

These groups will be evaluated by adjudicators Nick Green and Vernon Michels from 13:00.

The event ends with a concert at 19:30 which includes selected bands from the day’s performances, the WindWorx Symphonic Wind Ensemble under direction of Sean Kierman and Vernon Michels, and a massed band of about 250 players under direction of chairman Riaan van Wyk and Len van Zyl conductor’s competition participant Reghardt Kühn.V Tickets cost R10 or R5 for non-participating scholars for the evaluations from 13:00 to 18:00 and R20 or R10 for non-participating scholars for the evening concert at 19:30.
