Woman killed on closed road

Police are urging residents to help in a hit-and-run investigation.

Police were called to Baden Powell Drive on Friday 19 May at 19:50 when a pedestrian was killed. It is alleged that the 29-year-old woman was hit by a white Volkswagen Polo.

The road is currently closed in the direction of Macassar as a result of roadworks. Police say it is believed the car was driving in the closed portion of the road.

“The car was allegedly driving on a blocked-off portion of the road and had driven over some cones before knocking over the pedestrian. The pedestrian was declared dead on the scene. The driver allegedly drove off without stopping,” says Captain Ian Williams, police spokesperson.

Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.

V Anyone with information is urged to call the investigating officer, detective Warrant Officer Robert Hendricks, on 021 370 1600 or 073 677 8908.
