You should get what you pay for

2018-05-29 06:01

The City gets praised for spending public money on cycle routes so that private interests like hotels, bed and breakfasts and restaurants can benefit financially. In the meantime the taxpayers have to pay more for all our services because the City doesn’t have enough money.

This is an outrage.

The tourist industry should be funded by the people who benefit from it, not the taxpayer.

What we get from it is increased congestion and higher prices, based on what overseas people are willing to pay.

The same thing applies to the electricity outage in Hangberg. Do these residents actually pay for anything? Or do they just expect the taxpayers who are already overburdened to pay for this as well?
